01 The Trip

Light tackle.

Light tackle is the most versatile way to fish the flats, and it opens up the widest range of what the Lower Keys have to offer. It’s ideal for sight-fishing permit, bonefish, tarpon, and redfish — and just as good for a fun, action-packed day.

It’s also the best choice for kids and first-time anglers. Numbers of mangrove snapper and jack crevalle keep rods bent and smiles wide, and — believe it or not — bonefish are a real possibility for young anglers too.

All rods and reels are provided for the trip. If you have a favorite setup you’d like to bring, you’re more than welcome to.
